Oasis Expandable 52300: one bed frame, three widths and three lengths

The Oasis Expandable 52300 is a hi-lo electric bed for people who need more room than a standard 35 inch bed gives. The width and length are built into the frame, so you can set it up for the person today and change it later. It raises for caregiving and lowers for getting in and out.

Oasis Expandable 52300 width, length and capacity

The deck sets to 36, 42 or 48 inches wide and 80, 84 or 88 inches long. The manual lists a 500 lb max resident weight and a 550 lb safe working load, 100 lb more than the standard Oasis on both.

• Widths from 36 to 48 inches: give a larger person room to turn over, or set it narrower for a smaller bedroom
• Height from 7 to 30 inches: low for getting in and out of bed, high so a caregiver can help without bending over
• Autoglide: the deck moves back as the head section rises, so the person slides toward the foot of the bed less
• Heel lift extension: raises the heel end of the deck for a more comfortable leg position
• Auto contour: one button raises the head and knee sections together, so the person stays in a comfortable position instead of slipping down
• Central locking pedals: one foot pedal locks the 3 inch casters before a transfer and releases them when the bed needs to move

Setting up the Oasis Expandable 52300 at home

The 8 function hand control adjusts the head, knees and height from the bed, so the person can change position without calling for help. The bed rolls in its low position, two caster guide locks stop side to side drift, and a bumper guard protects walls and furniture when you move it. Two Y-shaped supports replace the old X frame, leaving more space under the bed for a patient lift base. If the person's needs change, widen or lengthen the same frame later. Order a mattress that matches the width and length you plan to use. One pair of head and footboards comes with the bed, in your choice of Solar Oak, Mahogany, Amber Cherry or Storm. Side rails and assist bars are sold separately.
