Oasis 52200 electric bed: low enough to get in, high enough to give care

The Oasis 52200 is a hi-lo electric bed for a bedroom at home or a care facility. The whole bed raises and lowers with the hand control, so the person in it can get in and out at a comfortable height and a caregiver can work at waist level. It suits someone who spends more time in bed after a hospital stay and the family member or aide helping them.

Oasis 52200 sizing and weight capacity

Check the room and the person before you order. The deck is 35 inches wide and the length is built into the frame, so it sets to 80, 84 or 88 inches. The manual lists a 400 lb max resident weight and a 450 lb safe working load for the bed.

• Height from 7 to 30 inches: lower it close to the floor for getting in and out, raise it so a caregiver can help with dressing or changing sheets without bending
• Length that grows with the person: set the deck to 80, 84 or 88 inches for a taller sleeper, or keep it short to save floor space
• Auto contour: one button raises the head and knee sections together, so the person stays in position instead of sliding toward the foot of the bed
• Central locking pedals: a foot pedal locks the 3 inch casters at once, so the bed stays put during transfers
• Rolls at any height: you can move the bed while it sits low, with no need to raise it first

Living with the Oasis 52200 at home

Most families set the Oasis up in a bedroom or a ground floor room. The 8 function hand control lets the user or a caregiver adjust the head, knees and height from the bed. Two caster guide locks keep the bed from drifting sideways, and a bumper guard protects walls and furniture when you move it. The frame uses two Y-shaped supports at the head and foot instead of an X frame, which leaves more open space under the bed for a patient lift base. Plan on a 35 inch wide mattress that matches the length you set. One pair of head and footboards comes with the bed, in your choice of Solar Oak, Mahogany, Amber Cherry or Storm. Side rails and assist bars are sold separately.
