Infinity 54000 bariatric bed: chair position, battery backup and room to grow

The Infinity 54000 is a fully electric bed with an expandable frame, for a person up to 600 lb. It is built for people who spend much of the day in bed and the caregivers who help them. Sitting up to eat, a night light underneath and a frame that changes size with the person all come standard.

Infinity 54000 sizing and capacity

The width and length are part of the frame. Set the deck to 36, 42 or 48 inches wide and 80, 84 or 88 inches long. The manual lists a 600 lb max resident weight and a 650 lb safe working load for the bed.

• Comfort chair position: brings the person into a seated, chair-like position for meals, visits and watching TV
• Height from 7 to 30 inches: low for getting in and out, high for bathing, dressing and changing sheets
• Safety stop at 12.5 inches: the bed pauses on the way down and needs another press to keep lowering, with a flashing light while it does, so nothing under the bed gets caught by surprise
• Battery backup: keeps the bed working during a power outage
• Under bed lighting: a soft light under the frame helps with getting up at night

Everyday use of the Infinity 54000

• Autoglide: the deck moves back as the head section rises, so the person slides toward the foot of the bed less and needs pulling up less often
• Heel lift extension: raises the foot end of the deck for a more comfortable leg position

Auto contour raises the head and knees together with one button. Central locking pedals lock the 3 inch casters in one step, two caster guide locks keep the bed from drifting sideways, and a bumper guard protects walls and doorways. You can roll the bed while it sits low. The frame sits on two Y-shaped supports, which leaves space underneath for a patient lift base. Widen or lengthen it later if the person needs more room. Pick a mattress that matches the width and length you will use. One pair of head and footboards comes with the bed, in your choice of Solar Oak, Mahogany, Amber Cherry or Storm. Side rails and assist bars are sold separately.
